Château Guiraud, Sauternes First Growth 1855, has created a new web-series « Artisans by Nature », which is set to last from now until December 2016. The aim of the series is to draw attention to around a dozen regional producers, all of which will be assisting the château in creating the definitive French Christmas feast.
In the words of estate manager Xavier Planty, « we expressly sought out partners who share our philosophy of excellence through profound respect for the terroir. Our selection represents the full diversity of French culinary expertise: from oyster aquaculturalists to bakers, from butchers to chocolatiers, and from farmers to cheesemakers. Myriad professions will be brought together by our First Growth 1855 wine. »
Since 2010, the French gastronomic meal has been on UNESCO’s « intangible » cultural heritage list. « The French gastronomic meal is a social custom aimed at celebrating the most important moments in the lives of individuals and groups […] It is a festive meal bringing people together for an occasion to enjoy the art of good eating and drinking (source: unesco.org) ». It is out of respect for this time-honoured French tradition that Château Guiraud has decided to take you on a gastronomic journey, focussing largely on local producers from the Aquitaine region.
See you in December 2016!
In the meantime… we’re organising a large-scale cooking competition
